Shelly Rubinstein attended the NHS Confederation Annual Conference where she met up with colleagues and clients to discuss the future direction of Leadership in the NHS and the effect of 'World Class Commissioning' on the quality of service to patients.
She was pleased to note that the Health Service Journal has reported that 'Chief executives at the NHS Confederation annual conference have been urged to promote human resources issues to reduce deaths and improve patient care.'
South Tees Hospitals trust chief executive Simon Pleydell said 'the private sector and research from the US shows there's a clear link between high-performing organisations and investment in HR.'
He pointed to studies that had found a 'compelling' correlation between hospital mortality rates and HR management practice.
